The Infinite Threshold, Graphite, pencil, watercolour, sgraffito and ink on Claybord, 2020
The use of material often plays a part in the stories I want to tell. Working on a clay surface enabled me to express the idea of being between worlds. These panels are coated with Kaolin Clay which are often used as a substance on African masks because white is a colour which represents the world of the unseen. I wanted the women in these claybord panels to be almost like threshold guardians of the universal realm.
